The viola crafted by Marco Maria Gastaldi is inspired by a model by A. Stradivari. It was built in 2017 and has a body length of 410 mm. The viola is distinguished by meticulous craftsmanship in every detail. The woods were carefully selected for optimal aesthetic and acoustic results. The top, made from two pieces of spruce from Val d'Ega (Province of Bolzano), has a regular, medium-width grain. The back, made from Balkan maple, features deep, broad flames. The varnish, based on linseed oil, is in an antiqued style. Professional violists describe the sound as very powerful, rich in overtones, and with a very deep timbre.
